Janet Maxwell
Janet F. Hicks Maxwell, 88, of Evans City, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 3, 2024, at UPMC Passavant, McCandless Township.
Born Dec. 27, 1935, in Evans City, she was the daughter of the late W. George and Edna Walker Hicks.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Janet was a registered nurse. She graduated from Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing and then became a licensed nursing home administrator. Janet practiced her profession from 1956 through 2012. She retired as senior vice president of operations from PennMed Consultants, after 30 years of service.
Janet was an active member of the Butler Little Theatre from the 1960s through the 1980s. She served as chairman of the board of directors for several seasons, and performed on stage as well as behind the scenes, and directed several shows during those years.
Janet had a passion for dogs and leaves behind her dog, Flo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George E. Hicks.
Janet is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Maxwell, whom she married Aug. 25, 1962; one son, Scott (Sandra Best) Maxwell of Slippery Rock; one sister, Doris Bauder of Zelienople; two granddaughters, Brigitte J. Maxwell and Annaliese P. Maxwell; one niece, Cheryl Bauder Schoeffel; and two nephews, Jeffrey Bauder and William Hicks.
MAXWELL — All funeral arrangements for Janet F. Hicks Maxwell, who died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, were held privately by her family.
