Mars man sentenced for posting woman’s info on porn site

A real estate agent spoke in a crowded courtroom Thursday, Jan. 11, about the emotional, mental and professional damages that resulted from a Butler County man posting her photo on an adult entertainment website.

James J. Wilkinson, 49, of Mars was sentenced to 12 months of probation and 30 hours of community service after pleading guilty in Butler County Common Pleas Court to a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. He also apologized to the woman as part of his plea agreement.

Adams Township police initially charged Wilkinson with identity theft, harassment and the disorderly conduct charge following the December 2022, incident.

The victim said Wilkinson stole her identification and placed a photo of her on a porn site. She said she sought medical treatment and felt emotional and mental stress as a result of the incident.

She said she also sought counseling, and relatives who were impacted by the posting also received counseling.

In addition, she said she hired a marketing firm to repair her reputation.

She also said she lives near Wilkinson and they are members of the same country club.

Before imposing the sentence, Judge Timothy McCune said the ordeal must have been traumatic for her.

He called what Wilkinson did an “extremely juvenile act” and a harmful use of the internet.

In May 2023, when the charges were filed, the victim told police her picture and cellphone number were posted on an adult entertainment website called “Adult Friend Finders.”

Police traced the account to Wilkinson, and estimated 15 attempts to contact the victim resulted from the fraudulent posting.

Wilkinson told police he and a friend created the account to get back at the woman after a family member was not hired for a job.
