Kathleen Covert
Kathleen “Kate” Covert, 72, of East Butler, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, surrounded by family.
She was born to Robert and Ruth Snodgrass on Feb. 28, 1951, in Butler.
Kate was an intelligent, funny, loving woman who was passionate about the people, animals and interests she cared about. She valued education for herself and her blended family and took pride in all of their accomplishments. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, music and entertainment through every streaming platform possible. She especially loved the Marvel Universe and Doctor Who.
A 1968 graduate of Butler High School, she had an interest in local theater, where she met her first husband, Gary Covert. She later received her associate degree from Butler County Community College in computer programming. In addition to being a full-time mother, over the years she worked several jobs, with her time at the Butler Public Library being her favorite. She was supportive of her family, serving on the board of the East Butler Baseball Association where her children played, as well as volunteering at various school functions as mentor, teacher and chaperone.
She is survived by her partner of 30 years, Michael Hetrick; her sons, Robert Covert and Joshua Covert; her daughter, Emily (Donald) Snow; her bonus daughters, Lisa (Nate) Dimit, Lynne (Nick) Day and Lauren (Tom) Bauer; her 13 grandchildren, Krista, McGwire, McKenna, Avery, Traynor, Kadiya, Hayden, Cooper, Molly, Ethan, Christopher, Damian and Lilly; and her two great-grandchildren, Luca and Eden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Snodgrass; her sister, Patricia McCalman; and her niece, Miranda Lyon.
COVERT — A memorial with family and friends of Kathleen “Kate” Covert, who died Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, will be scheduled at a later date.
Donations in her name may be made to the Butler Area Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., Butler PA 16001.
