Grace V. Scherder, 87, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford.

She was born March 19, 1936, in Penn Hills, the daughter of the late John Egan and Janet (Kimberly) Egan.

Grace had worked at McDonald's restaurant for 17 years. She loved to read, go fishing and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Janet (Robert) Hoffmann of Penn Hills; two sons, Ralph Scherder Jr., aka Chris Denem, and his wife, Kathleen, of Butler and Joseph (Marly) Scherder of Butler; six grandchildren, Amy, Erika, Kathleen, Robert, Ralph III and Jessica; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mina Potoczek of Cranberry Township.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Charles Scherder Sr., who died Sept. 30, 2020; and three brothers.

SCHERDER — Friends of Grace V. Scherder, who died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 821 Herman Road, Butler, with Father James Kurtz, OFM Cap., officiating.

Private Interment in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
