1 hospitalized after Center Township crash Thursday

A 62-year old man was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital by medical helicopter following a vehicle crash on North Duffy Road, Center Township, on Thursday.

A state police crash report indicated Ben R. DeZorzi, of Butler, suffered suspected serious injuries after his vehicle rolled over three times at the intersection near Harley Lane.

Police said DeZorzi was traveling west on North Duffy Road in his Toyota Corolla around 2:44 p.m. and attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone at the crest of a hill.

Documents show DeZorzi’s vehicle went into the opposite lane. As he attempted to merge back into his original travel lane, police said DeZorzi’s vehicle then struck a Subaru Forester, which was driven by Logan J. Vensel, 22, of Butler.

The crash report did not indicate which direction the Subaru Forester was traveling.

DeZorzi lost control, according to police, and his vehicle struck an embankment, went airborne and rolled three times.

DeZorzi was flown by a Stat Medivac helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, police said, and Vensel was uninjured.
