Slippery Rock school board reviews hiring methods

Slippery Rock Area School District is expanding its candidate outreach as it looks to replace retiring principal Kristen Czubiak.

Assistant superintendent Susan Miller said superintendent Alfonso Angelucci spoke to the school board Monday evening, Jan. 8, about the district’s hiring practices. She said a more limited candidate pool has led the district to use more platforms to alert people to job openings.

According to Miller, the district is looking to have a new principal start July 1.

“He talked about how the position is posted, advertised and how we screen candidates,” Miller said. “We use websites to advertise, we network and we use social media to get the message out" in the search for candidates.

The board also on Monday unanimously approved the 2024-25 Slippery Rock Park budget, with expenses of nearly $420,000, Miller said. The board also heard its 2023 audit report from Hosak Specht Muetzel & Wood.
