Richard Lipnichan
Richard F. “Dick” Lipnichan, 88, of Bruin, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, while in the company of his loving wife, late Tuesday evening, Jan. 9, 2024.
Richard was born in McKees Rocks, Allegheny County, on Nov. 11, 1935. He was the son of the late Stephen A. and Theresa Matis Lipnichan.
He was a graduate of Bruin High School, had attended classes at the University of Pittsburgh and was a reservist in the U.S. Army. Mr. Lipnichan was self-employed for many years, operating the Esso station at “The Point” in Butler. He was also in partnership with his brother, Bob, operating a Winky’s Hamburgers in Butler, as well as R and R Gun Shop near Chicora.
Dick enjoyed hunting, family farming, reading, woodworking and puzzles. Most especially, he looked forward to the company of family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Paytas Lipnichan, whom he married at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church on the North Side in Pittsburgh, on Jan. 18, 1966. Dick additionally is survived by two grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard T. Lipnichan, who passed away on May 16, 2004; five brothers; and five sisters.
LIPNICHAN — A private funeral mass for Richard F. “Dick” Lipnichan, who died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, will be celebrated at Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora, with the Rev. Matt McClain, pastor of St. Clare Parish, officiating. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
