Richard Johnston

Johnston

Richard Andrew Johnston, 79, of West Valley City, Utah, passed away Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 8, 1944, in Butler, he was the son of the late Andrew H. Johnston and the late Phyllis M. (Davis) Johnston.

Richard was retired from Albertsons of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a truck driver by trade, which suited his adventurous soul well.

He took his retirement seriously by fishing, preparing and eating home-cooked meals, but what was most important to Richard was spending time with his family. He loved talking on the phone with his family, whose members are scattered across the country.

Richard is survived by his wife, Joey, of West Valley City, Utah; his daughters, Korinna Manculich and Dana Martin, both of Chicora; and his stepdaughters, Brook Rodriguez and Hollie and Tierney Talmadge of Salt Lake City, Utah.

He also is survived by one brother, William (Carol) Johnston of Canonsburg; four sisters, Phyllis Mulneix of Florida, Diane (Bob) Eva of Chicora, Marjorie (David) Risner of Texas and Andrea (Chris) Silverio; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Ralph and David Johnston.

A special thank you to Marcus for taking such wonderful care of his grandpa during his final days here on earth.

A celebration of life will be held privately by the family.
