Joyce Darlene Parenti, 78, of Butler, passed away peacefully in the company of family and friends while at home on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 24, 2023.

Joyce was born in Grove City to Sylvester “Syl” Parenti and Florence “Flo” Turk Parenti on Sept. 22, 1945. She graduated from Moniteau High School in 1963, and retired from Occidental Petroleum after 29 years of service.

Joyce was known by many names to her loving family and friends. To those who knew her best, she was affectionately known as Sissy, Jody and Joycie. Joyce had an adventurous spirit, she loved to travel and was known to pack a bag for a trip at the drop of a hat.

Spending time with friends and family was an important part of Joyce’s life after retiring. She loved to fish with her brother, and was an avid golfer who enjoyed fellowship while participating in three different golf leagues. Joyce was known as someone who you could always count on in times of need. Her heart knew no boundaries for those around her who faced tough times. She attended Crossfire Ministries in Butler.

She is survived by her sisters, Ruth E. Riddle of Duluth, Ga., Sonja B. Parenti of Grove City and JoAnn M. Parenti of Garland, Texas; her brother, Bill L. Parenti of Evans City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Daryl S. Parenti; and her mother and father.

PARENTI — Visitation for Joyce Darlene Parenti, who died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Funeral services will immediately follow at 6 p.m., with David Janz, senior pastor of First Church in Butler, presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s honor to the Slippery Rock Rescue Team.
