No tax increase in Clearfield Township, but next year may be a different story
Clearfield Township supervisors passed the township’s 2024 budget at a meeting Monday evening, Dec. 11, which includes expenses totaling nearly $404,000.
Supervisors chairman Henry McNutt said Tuesday the supervisors kept the property tax rate the same once again, but added it could change in budget discussions next year.
“We haven’t done a tax increase since 1999, but we’re looking at it for next year. We have to,” McNutt said.
The township’s expected revenues for 2024 outnumber the expenses by about $6,000. Earned income tax makes up more than half of the expected revenues at about $290,000, while real estate taxes make up about $42,000.
Road maintenance is the township’s biggest expense, with dirt and gravel materials costing more than $54,000, and wages make up about $42,000. Other road maintenance materials are expected to cost $10,000, and snow and ice removal is projected to cost $15,000.
Health insurance in the township is the third largest expense at $41,600, and wages for equipment repair account for $3,500, while materials cost $20,000. General liability insurance will cost the township about $21,700.
