The Butler Eagle on Sunday featured Dennis Bogan's story as a sailor. I met Dennis Bogan as a boy who was rescued by him shortly after the war in his new role as a volunteer in a community rescue service in Middlesex Township.

While visiting my grandparents, David and Vera Dickson, on Logan Road, close to the Bogan farm on Glade Mill Road, I got wedged in a concrete drain pipe playing follow the leader with my cousins. I was the leader. I was very frightened. Mr. Bogan was called and calmly and gently eased me out. I thank him for his continued service even after the war.
