Ray E. Gallagher, 81, of Harmony, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023.

Born June 6, 1942, in Harmony, he was the son of the late Carl and Vera “Fay” (Dindinger) Gallagher.

Ray proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 474 in Zelienople, where he served as a member of the honor guard. He also was a member of the Evans City Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of the Harmony Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as assistant chief. He formerly belonged to Grace Church of Harmony. In his free time, Ray enjoyed hunting and traveling. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Ray leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Kelly (Ken) Shaffer of Monaca; his grandchildren, Justin and Jesse Shaffer; his brother, John Gallagher; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol D. (Shepel) Gallagher, who passed away in 2015; his sister, Vera Gallagher; and his brother, Claire Gallagher.

GALLAGHER — A celebration of life gathering for Ray E. Gallagher, who died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at American Legion Post 474, 308 W. New Castle St., Zelienople.

Ray will be laid to rest with full military honors at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, Pa.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
