Woman accused of ID theft, fraud in Middlesex Township

A Michigan woman was accused of stealing four people’s identities and making fraudulent withdrawals at several PNC banks in the area, according to Middlesex Township police.

Rachel A. Duncan, 38, of Niles, Mich., was charged with five counts each of felony access device fraud and misdemeanor identity theft following a series of events in March and April of this year.

Court documents showed that on March 31, four vehicles were broken into on Sylvan Spring Lane. Police said windows on the vehicles were smashed, and purses and wallets were stolen, as well as debit and credit cards and checks.

On April 3, three people who had their vehicles broken into reported that someone accessed their PNC accounts, police said.

Documents showed that two bank cards were used at PNC Bank locations in Meadville and Beaver Falls, and another person reported a fraudulent check was deposited and cashed in Hermitage.

On April 4, someone attempted to access another person’s account at PNC Bank locations in Moraine Pointe Plaza and Clearview Circle, according to the affidavit.

Police said a silver Ford Edge was seen at all the locations, and Duncan was later identified as the driver. Surveillance footage showed Duncan attempting to use the bank cards in various PNC Bank locations, according to police.

Duncan’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
