Man accused of stealing car from Butler Township dealership
A man is accused of taking a vehicle from a Butler Township dealership without paying for it, months after he was accused of taking a vehicle from a Winfield Township dealership.
Butler Township police charged Michael "Myka“ Petrie, 39, with two counts of felony theft, misdemeanors theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and summaries driving with a suspended license and driving without a license following the alleged theft at Ellis Automotive last week.
According to charging documents, a 2021 Kia Sportage LX was reported missing from the dealership Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Employees told police that two people, one of them identified as Petrie, had walked onto the dealership lot the day before and were looking at vehicles. Police said surveillance footage showed Petrie entering the dealership then walking to the vehicle.
Footage showed Petrie and the other person entering the vehicle and driving it onto Hansen Avenue. Police said Petrie does not have a valid driver’s license.
In July, Petrie was accused of a similar offense after police said a 2016 silver Ford Fusion was reported stolen from Lenzi Auto Sales in Winfield Township and later found where Petrie was residing.
Petrie’s preliminary hearing before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 26.
