New Harmony Fire District foundation being poured
The new Harmony Fire District station in Zelienople began getting its foundation set Friday, Oct. 6.
“Foundation started to be poured (that) morning,” district president Kevin Behun said, “and they’ll be ongoing for the next couple of weeks.”
Behun said the district expects the foundation to be complete within the next month, with construction ramping up over the next few months.
“Concrete will take probably the next six weeks, two months,” he said. “After that we’ll start putting wall steel up, and then it should be under a roof in the spring.”
Following the roof, Behun said, crews will begin work on the interior through the summer.
“The structure you should start seeing by the end of the year,” he said.
Behun said the district expects “substantial completion” on the project by Aug. 30 of next year.
“From then on, it’ll be some punch list items through September,” he said, “but our schedule calls for us moving in from the end of August to early September.”
According to the fire district’s website, the PJ Dick company of Pittsburgh is handling construction, and AE7 of Pittsburgh is the architect.
