Middlesex considers memorial benches at community park

MIDDLESEX TWP — With the Middlesex Township Park close to completion, the board of supervisors is weighing its options for what the planned memorial benches will look like.

During Wednesday afternoon’s work session, the board looked over potential designs for benches, although according to township manager Jeff Winkle, none have been ordered yet. Schubert Equipment in Valencia has been mentioned as a possible supplier for the benches.

The board of supervisors officially authorized the memorial bench program in September 2022, wherein individuals or families could donate $1,500 to have a memorial bench placed in honor of a loved one. This would help the township offset the costs of constructing the park.

According to Winkle, there has been one applicant for a bench so far, while the park has room for 10. It remains to be seen whether the cost of memorial benches will remain at $1,500.
