Manfred Poeppel
Manfred “Fred” O. Poeppel, 71, of Conneaut Lake, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at the UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.
Born Feb. 11, 1952, in Goslar, Germany, he was the son of Otto F. and Irmgard J. Poeppel (Goeke).
Fred immigrated to the United States with his parents in October of 1952. He worked as a chemist before changing careers into ministry. He was a minister of several churches across the United States, and a member of the American Chemical Society.
Fred was a loving husband, brother and father. He served so many people as a pastor at Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Florida churches. He loved time on the water, boating with family in the summer, and played softball in a winter league. He was curious, brilliant and loved people.
Surviving are his loving wife, Janet, of Conneaut Lake, Pa.; sons, Kurt (Nicole) Poeppel of Fulton, N.Y., Keith (Alison) Poeppel of Charlottesville, Va., and Scott (Melissa) Poeppel of Pittsburgh; and his brother, Norman (Carolyn) Poeppel of Saxonburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
POEPPEL — Friends of Manfred “Fred” O. Poeppel, who died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg, and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, with Pastors Barry Keurulainen and Ben Berteau officiating.
Luncheon will follow at the church.
