Richard Kuhn
We are saddened to announce the passing of Richard W. Kuhn, 71, of Sarver, on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023. Rick passed courageously and peacefully and was surrounded by his loving family.
Rick married his wife, Barbara, in 1977, and they were devoted to and supportive of each other. Barb and Rick spent many loving, happy and joyful years together. Rick was also the loving and caring father to his two children, Lori Schrecengost and Caleb (Nicole) Kuhn, who will deeply miss their dad. His two grandsons, Leo and Silas, will desperately miss their “Pa.” Rick loved spending time with them both enjoying their talents and their antics. He will also be missed by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and their families, who include many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his sister, Beverly (Rich) Small.
Rick was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Betty Kuhn; and by his granddaughter, Grace Shipkowski.
Rick was employed at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation for 32 years and developed many friendships during his time there. He was also an avid runner completing multiple races, including the Presque Isle marathon. Rick’s love of music is well-known. It is not possible to count the number of concerts that he and Barb attended, and when visiting them, it was rare that classic rock was not playing in the house. Rick passed his love of music to both of his children and to his grandsons. In Rick’s final days, his grandson Leo played his guitar and sang classic rock songs for his “Pa.”
Rick loved the ocean, often scuba diving to experience the calming effect of it. He also enjoyed going to the beach with his family, flying a kite while listening to the waves and spending time in the surf with Barb, Lori and Caleb.
To say that Rick was the life of the party does not do justice to what he brought to our family gatherings and pool parties. He always had a twinkle in his eyes as he told his stories and his laughter was contagious. If Rick was present, everyone had fun. He was very generous — if you asked Rick to lend a hand, he would lend both. He has left a void that cannot be filled.
KUHN — Per his wishes, there will be no visitation for Richard W. Kuhn, who died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023. Instead, he would like for you to remember the joy he brought, to appreciate the life he led, and to raise a glass to his memory.
