Mars Area Public Library hosts local author

The Mars Area Public Library, 107 Grand Ave. in Mars, will host local author Mark Macedonia at 6 p.m. Sept. 14.

A retired Seneca Valley Intermediate High School history teacher, Macedonia is the author of “Beneath a Crescent Moon” — a story of love, betrayal and survival set in the 16th century Ottoman Empire.

“As a teacher of world history, I was aware that the Ottoman Empire wasn’t something a lot of people studied,” Macedonia said in a news release. “Now that I’m retired, I continue to teach through the books that I write.”

Macedonia will discuss his books as well as his journey from teacher to author and his writing process.

Participants are invited to bring questions for a Q&A session with Macedonia, and his books will be available for purchase. Visit marsarealibrary.org to register.
