Helen Rogerson

Rogerson

Helen M. Rogerson, 98, of Butler, was embraced by God’s loving arms on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, while under the care of Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

Born Oct. 5, 1924, in Butler, Helen was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Cranmer) Buckham, and the last surviving member of her family of five siblings.

After graduation from Butler High School, Helen enlisted in the Marines and was stationed at Parris Island in South Carolina, where she served in an administrative position during World War II. Upon returning to Butler, Helen married William J. Rogerson, on Feb. 14, 1947, and was married for 63 years before Bill’s journey to heaven on Nov. 30, 2010.

Helen’s life was dedicated to raising her six children, which included one daughter, Patricia L. (Donald) Fiscus, of Cape Coral, Fla.; and five sons, William J. (Vicky) Rogerson, Jr., of Delray Beach, Fla., Thomas R. (Marilyn), Peter J. (Kathy J.), Mark H. (Kathy L.) and Dean D. (Pamela) Rogerson, all of Butler.

Once Helen’s children were of school age, Helen began her career in office management at JCPenney in Butler. She continued her office work at the Butler County Park and Mausoleum, as well as VicNor Sod Farms in Evans City.

Helen enjoyed many years of playing cards with her close girl friends. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed numerous trips to casinos with family and friends, where on one occasion she did “win big.”

To those who knew Helen, she was a loving and compassionate person with a strong Catholic faith, being a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Helen was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and adored. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and aides at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot for dedicating themselves to Helen’s loving care.
