Mary Rieger
Mary Lillian Barnhart Rieger, 102, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at her residence.
She was born on July 16, 1921, in Franklin Township, to the late S. Quay Barnhart and the late Annie (Brunner) Barnhart.
Mary worked at Armco and Holiday Inn, retiring at the age of 75. She was a dedicated member of the North Main Street Church of God and held membership at the Mt. Chestnut Woman's Club and the 500 Card Club. Her love for gardening and quilting were well known, with her handmade quilts being a cherished keepsake for those close to her.
Mary was the cherished widow of Virgil Rieger, with whom she shared her life from their marriage on July 9, 1948, until his passing on Nov. 24, 1991.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail A. Rieger and Pamela Jean and Thomas McKnight; her grandchildren, Thomas Virgil and Danielle McKnight, Brian Thomas McKnight and Pamela Annie McKnight; and her great-grandson, Thomas Ingvar McKnight. She also leaves behind a brother, G. Dale Barnhart.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Barnhart; and her sister, Lucille Brown.
RIEGER — A visitation for Mary, who died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. The funeral service will follow the visitation at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Gordon Powell officiating.
