Harold Monks
Harold A. Monks (Hammy) 84, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 10, 1938, in Butler, he was the son of the late Art Monks and Marion Long Monks.
He was a retired ironworker, was employed by Armco Butler Works and was a member of the UAW union. Ham loved to fish (especially Lake Erie, where he had a camp and boat at Sara Coyne on the bay for many years) and hunt. He was an outdoorsman, and also enjoyed gardening and built his own home. He was a great cook of the fish and game he caught. He taught the boys of his family how to hunt and fish, and enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Those who touch our lives will stay in our hearts forever. He was greatly loved and is deeply missed.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Monks; his two great-grandchildren, Aylin and Colin; his two brothers, Gary (Deb) Monks and Keith (Jody) Monks; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; his son, Steve Monks, in 2021; and a brother, Larry Monks, in 1996.

A life celebration is being planned.
