Rodgers

Nancy West Rodgers, of Washington Township, Volant, journeyed to Heaven to be with the Lord on Monday, July 17, 2023. She was encircled by her daughter and longtime friends, Wende Anderson and Jackie LaRitz.

Nancy Ann West was born July 8, 1941, in Butler, to Arthur David West and Gladys Ella Magee West. Nancy graduated from Slippery Rock Area High School then New Castle Business College and worked briefly at Cooper Bessemer. Nancy married William (Bill) E. Rodgers on June 16, 1962. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2006.

An auctioneer’s daughter and real estate salesperson, Nancy also proudly referred to herself as a domestic engineer. Nancy loved perennial gardening, rock collecting and birding. As late as 79 years of age, Nancy enjoyed cutting bird baths in stone using a hammer and chisel outside in her garden during the winter months so as not to disturb the nesting process.

Nancy enjoyed attending Mountville Presbyterian Church in Portersville alongside her Magee relatives and many longtime friends. After enjoying 44 loving years together, Nancy missed Bill deeply during the past 17 years, so hosting her memorial service on the anniversary of Bill’s death is a tribute and honor to both kind and loving souls.

Surviving is her daughter, Charmian Avril Rodgers, of Volant.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Judith K. Dekking.

RODGERS — Memorial services for Nancy West Rodgers, who died Monday, July 17, 2023, will be at noon Monday at the Friendship Presbyterian Church Community Center, 886 New Castle Road, Slippery Rock, with Pastor Patrick Keeley of the Mountville Presbyterian Church presiding.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon Monday, also at the Friendship Presbyterian Church Community Center.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be given to Mountville Presbyterian Church, 2795 Mountville Road, Portersville, PA 16051, or the American Red Cross.

Arrangements are under the direction of SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
