Klingensmith

Heather R. Klingensmith, 48, of Slippery Rock, passed away peacefully Monday, July 17, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital after her courageous battle with Rett syndrome.

Heather was born April 4, 1975, in Greenville, to her parents, Richard and Nancy (Smith) Klingensmith.

Heather was attending Merakey Allegheny Valley School in Slippery Rock. She had many friends at school that she looked forward to seeing every day, especially her special boyfriend.

Heather’s life was full of love and companionship. Throughout her life she had many wonderful, caring and loving aides that helped fill her life with many joys. Heather found joy in the simple things of life, campfires, car rides, swinging at the park and swimming. She loved to play on her iPad. Heather always looked her best. She had matching shoes and jewelry for every outfit she owned. She and her mom Nancy were two peas in a pod. Nancy would often say “She is my heart but I am her voice.” Heather’s larger-than-life presence will be missed by so many, especially her mom.

Loved ones to cherish Heather’s memory are her mom, Nancy Klingensmith of Slippery Rock; her cousins Joe Coursen, Cindy (Rick) Knox, Wendy (Josh) Crissman, Laurie Stewart and Diane (Rick) Lowrey; several second cousins; and her uncles and aunts, Chris Schleifer, John Schleifer, Robert (Darlene) Schleifer, Mike (Faith) Schleifer, Mary Madalyn and Paula (Bruce) Potter.

Heather was welcomed into heaven by her dad, Rich; her grandparents; and aunts and an uncle.

KLINGENSMITH — A combined memorial service for Heather, who died Monday, July 17, 2023, and her father, Richard, will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 12, 2023, at the Forestville United Church, 124 Boyers Road, Forestville, Mercer Township.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Rett Syndrome Foundation, 4600 Devitt Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45246 or to the Merakey Allegheny Valley School, 125 Rebecca Lane, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
