Gary Kohlmeyer

Kohlmeyer

Gary L. Kohlmeyer, 77, of Eau Claire, passed away early Sunday morning, July 16, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness.

Born in Grove City, on March 20, 1946, he was the son of the late R. M. “Buss” and Lucille Ekis Kohlmeyer.

Gary was a graduate of Moniteau High School and Slippery Rock State College (now University) with a bachelor's degree in education. He did postgraduate work there as well. He was employed by Moniteau School District for nearly 40 years and served as an assistant football coach for several seasons. In addition to teaching, he enjoyed farming the Kohlmeyer farm in Venango Township most of his life. He enjoyed hunting, reading, especially information on the Civil War and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, the former Irene Boozel, whom he married on May 10, 1969; his daughter, Karie (Jason) Saler, of Hamburg, N.Y.; and his two sons, Greg (Roberta) Kohlmeyer and Brad Kohlmeyer, both of Boyers. Left to cherish his memory are eight grandchildren, Brody, Peyton, Nicholas, Jesse, Madison and Landon Kohlmeyer and Lincoln and Finnen Saler. He is also survived by sister-in-law Ann Kohlmeyer, of Hilliards; as well as nieces and one nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dennis M. Kohlmeyer.

The Kohlmeyer family would like to extend their gratitude to all of those who have given their love and support to our family during the past year and a half, as well as the oncology nurses. It is all much appreciated and has not gone unnoticed.
