Butler youth baseball stays alive

BUTLER TWP — Despite being no-hit by Oil City in Meridian, the Butler Little League All-Star team managed a 3-1 win to avoid elimination in the District 25 tournament Tuesday night.

Pitchers Hunter Knapik and Aiden Dinger combined to allow just four hits and one run while striking out seven Oil City batters. Butler drew seven walks on offense, including three with the bases loaded. Elijah Manning, Evan Wick, and Dinger worked those free passes.

Adam Marshall, Blake Schreffler, and Dinger all scored runs. Butler will play Cranberry in Oil City Wednesday, with the winner playing Franklin in the loser’s bracket final on Friday.
