Harmony man sentenced to prison, pay over $15K in restitution
A Harmony man was sentenced to serve up to three years in prison and pay restitution of $15,386 after pleading guilty to burglary, terroristic threats and other charges stemming from several incidents.
Michael Patrick Shipley, 35, was sentenced Tuesday to serve 12 to 36 months in the county prison after pleading guilty to charges filed by police in Zelienople and Slippery Rock following incidents last year and 2021.
Shipley also was ordered to pay restitution totaling $11,885, including $10,064 to Erie Insurance, after pleading guilty to a felony charge of burglary filed by Zelienople police following a May 6 incident last year.
Butler County Common Pleas Court Judge Kelley Streib imposed the sentences that were included in plea agreements.

Police said he broke into the Exxon gas station on South Main Street in Zelienople, stole cigarettes and tried to break into a cash register. In addition, Shipley broke the front door and spray painted graffiti on Fisher’s Bar and Grill, and painted graffiti on Sarah II Nails, police said.
In a related case, Shipley was sentenced to concurrently serve 24 months in prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge of terroristic threats that borough police filed after he left a suspicious package outside of Fisher’s Bar and Grill on June 12, 2022. The package turned out to be harmless, but employees were alarmed, police said.
Shipley was sentenced to concurrently serve 12 months of probation and pay $3,501 in restitution after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief filed by Slippery Rock police for smashing the front door window of a business Nov. 8, 2021.
In the final case, he was ordered to pay court costs, but give no further penalty for pleading guilty to a summary charge of harassment filed by Zelienople police following an April 4, 2022, incident.
