More than 150 people attended Armstrong’s Pizza With a Purpose charity event on June 1 at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township as it raised $3,326 for Inspired Hearts & Hands, 5475 Route 8, Gibsonia.

The nonprofit organization will provide 133 pairs of athletic shoes for area children in poverty with the funds raised during the pizza-focused event.

“This is the third time Armstrong has hosted this unique event and the community’s response and excitement continues to grow every year,” Seth Prentice, community marketing manager of Armstrong said. “It’s a fun event and it’s great to have these local businesses team up to help make a difference for children and their families in our community.”

Anthony’s Coal-Fired Pizza, Monte Cellos Cranberry, The Training Table, Carlucci’s Pizza, Peppino’s Pizza, Tani’s Pizza, and Bruno’s Pizza all donated the pizza given out during the event.

This year’s winner of the People’s Choice Winner was reigning champion The Training Table Cafe.

“It’s nice to win the championship” said chef Geoff Straub “It’s an honor that people think of our pizza the best in the area. It’s also great to be part of giving back to those in need.”
