Shirley and Donald McCandless

Donald and Shirley McCandless of West Sunbury will celebrate 70 years of marriage on Tuesday.

McCandless married the former Shirley Hilgar on June 6, 1953, at St. John Methodist Church in Slippery Rock.

They have three children, Sherri (Mark) Schalk of Charlotte, N.C.; Donald (Jane) McCandless of State College, Pa.; and Joan Tillett of Apple Valley, Calif.

The also have 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

McCandless is an architectural engineer and farmer. He is a member of the Lions Club.

Mrs. McCandless is a cosmetologist and homemaker.
