Bauer Excavating, 705 Herman Road, Summit Township, is celebrating 50 years of service to Butler County and the surrounding areas.

The company performs residential, commercial, city and township work in Butler County and the surrounding areas.

The company was started in 1973 when Chester Bauer started the business laying foundations and clearing for local residential customers with limited supplies at his disposal.

Chester and his wife, Wilma, raised 12 children, with five of their eight sons having worked for their father over the years.

Today, Bauer Excavating is owned by Chuck Bauer, the youngest of the 12 children.
