Junior Woman of the Year a ‘Great leader and friend’
The GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Butler named Christina ‘Indie’ Green the 2023 Junior Woman of the Year during a dinner May 15 at Steele’s Brushes and Ceramics.
A news release from the club said Green is relatively new to the organization, but has displayed passion, enthusiasm and creativity with it during this past year. She has dedicated many hours to the club through volunteering at nearly every event as well as working on projects outside of meeting time.
“She just joined this year, and she took lead as one of the committee chairs, the arts and culture committee,” said Mary Krewduk, president of the club. “She ran with it, and she has been busy this entire year.”
As chairwoman for the club’s arts and culture committee, Green helped to organize the organization’s third-annual Polar Express event. She has plans to start a grassroots art box project in the community, as well as a community cookbook, according to Krewduk.
The art box project is in its early stages, but Krewduk said Green is working with local high school students to get it off the ground and may approach Butler officials about the project soon.
Green lives in West Sunbury with her husband, Josh, and has a daughter, Maddie, and a stepson, Ethan.
When not volunteering or being involved in community projects, Green can be found working on artistic endeavors, restoring furniture or enjoying time with her family, the news release said.
Krewduk said Green has been an integral member of the club since she joined.
"(Green) is always one to step up to get done what needs done and never says no,” Krewduk said. “She is great leader and friend, and we are so lucky to have her.”
