ADAMS TWP — Both drivers walked away without serious injuries after a crash between an SUV and a dump truck that halted traffic along 228 Friday afternoon, police said.

According to the Adams Township Police Department, the driver of a red sedan was attempting to pull out of the Quality Gardens’ parking lot onto 228 around 1:30 p.m. when she collided with an oncoming dump truck.

Traffic was stopped along the stretch of Route 228 from its intersection with Route 8 to the Mars Area High School.

The driver of the dump truck was unharmed and the driver of the sedan managed to “walk away” from the crash herself, police said.

“Some people are just lucky,” one officer remarked.

She was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, according to police, while crews worked to tow the red sedan and clear the road.

Among those responding to the scene were Adams Township Police Department, Middlesex Township Police Department, Adams Area Fire District, Callery Volunteer Fire Department, Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Company, Quality EMS and UPMC.
