2 charged in 2021 College Street homicide

Nearly two years after a man was stabbed and shot on College Street, city police have charged two individuals with causing his death.

On Dec. 5, 2021, Hakeem Moran, 31, of Pittsburgh, was taken from 109 College Street to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for multiple stab wounds and gunshot wounds. According to police, he died later that night from his injuries. His death was ruled a homicide.

Hassan L.R. Brack, 36, and Brooke R. Fair Smith, 30, both of Butler, are accused of Moran’s death and charged with felonies criminal homicide, criminal attempt and burglary. Fair Smith was additionally charged with a count of felony burglary.

Fair Smith’s address is listed as the Butler County Prison, and Brack’s is listed as the Smithfield State Correctional Institution.
