Butler man sentenced to up to 5 years in prison for 2020 burglary

A Butler man was sentenced Monday, May 8, to serve 22 to 60 months in prison for his involvement in a 2020 home invasion on Negley Avenue in Butler, where police said he was shot during the incident.

In addition, Lamont A. Franklin Jr., 22, also known as “Butt Butt,” received credit for time served in Butler County Prison, where he has been held since April 2021.

Butler County Common Pleas Judge Timothy McCune also sentenced Franklin to serve up to 48 months of probation after police charged him with robbery, conspiracy, hindering apprehension and prohibited possession of a firearm.

Franklin was accused of breaking into a home in February 2020 with his uncle, Maurice A. “Little Philly” Franklin, of Freeport, and a juvenile male.

The three demanded money of the homeowner, but police at the time were unsure if they stole anything.

Police said Franklin was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for a gunshot wound to the abdomen the night of the home invasion. Officers believed Franklin was shot during or shortly after the alleged incident.

Franklin was on the run from police for several months until his arrest April 2021 on charges connected to the burglary, according to past reporting from the Eagle.
