Turbo Tax users to receive checks after $141M settlement

TurboTax customers will be compensated for services they paid for that should have been free, thanks to a $141 million settlement.

Consumers will receive from $29 to $30 via check throughout May 2023 and be notified via email from the settlement fund administrator.

About 4.4 million consumers nationwide will receive checks in the mail as the result of the multistate settlement. Pennsylvania will receive more than $4.76 million for the 158,779 consumers who were tricked by TurboTax’s owner, Intuit, into paying to file their federal tax return, according to the state Office of Attorney General.

Low-income residents who paid to file their federal tax returns through TurboTax in 2016, 2017 and 2018 who were eligible to file for free through the IRS Free File Program will receive checks.
