Dept. of Justice sentences former Butler man for drug sales
The U.S. Department of Justice sentenced a former Butler man to eight years in prison with three years of supervision for selling fentanyl.
Joshua McKenzie, 38, was accused of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to Troy Rivetti, acting United States Attorney.
From March to May of 2020, McKenzie allegedly sold fentanyl and used a gun to further his sales, Rivetti said. McKenzie’s criminal record prevented him from possessing a firearm, according to the news release.
The sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand.
The Butler County District Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives contributed to the investigation of McKenzie.
