Knoch School Board meeting roundup

At their meeting on Wednesday night, April 12, the Knoch School District board:

√ Heard Cassandra Renninger, principal architect from DRAW Collective, report that per state requirements, a storm shelter was added to the high school renovation plan. Renninger listed possible additions to the project and said bids should be advertised in June and awarded in July.

√ Voted unanimously to approve a resolution regarding charter school funding that would join the district with more than 400 other school districts across the state. The resolution calls upon the state’s General Assembly to reform the current system of funding charter schools.

√ Heard Jamie Van Lenten, district business manager, report that the expenditures in the preliminary 2023-24 budget will be more than $38.6 million. She said the school board is expected to vote on a preliminary budget May 3.

√ Heard David Foley, superintendent, report that Barb Thrower and Roberta Stahlman will retire at the end of the current school year.
