Butler downs P-R in rubber match

Behind multi-hit performances by five hitters, Butler took the third of its three-game section baseball series with Pine-Richland Thursday with an 8-6 win. Left fielder Liam McElroy had two base knocks — including a triple — and center fielder Mac Schnur had three hits on the day.

Boden Lenyk earned the win on the mound by going two innings. Lance Slater, Noah Collins, and James Desmond all had two hits apiece.

Track and Field

Moniteau’s boys track and field team edged out Cranberry, 79-70, by winning 9 of 11 events on the oval Wednesday.

Trent Beachem (110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles), David Martino (100-meter dash, long jump), Allen Matz (1,600-meter run, 800-meter run), Matthew Martino (shot put, discus) were among the winners during the meet for the Warriors.

David Martino was also part of the first-place 400-meter relay team, while Ashton Grossman won the 200-meter run and was also part of that crew. Christian Rasmussen finished first in the 3,200-meter run and ran a leg of the 3,200-meter relay.

Boys Volleyball

Butler downed visiting Summit Academy in three sets Thursday night, improving its record to 5-2 on the campaign.

Mars 3, Deer Lakes 0 — The Planets won this match by scores of 25-20, 26-24, and 25-23. No other details were provided.

Softball

Maddy Dehart delivered a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning, plating Mackenzie Parks and giving Union/A-C Valley a 12-11 victory over Cranberry.

Parks struck out four and was the winning pitcher.

Dehart had four singles, two RBI and two runs in the contest, Parkas had a double, two singles and scored four runs. Kya Wetzel had a double, two singles, three RBI and two runs, Ryan Strauser a triple, single and three RBI.

The Falcon Knights play at Lakeview on Monday.
