Glad to see Dilbert comic strip gone

For the past few months, I have been meaning to write a letter to the editor regarding the Dilbert comic. It may have started out being against geeks, but it turned into a comic that was mean-spirited.

I would like to think we could have our kids read and enjoy the comics. But I would be embarrassed to have to explain to them why it is okay to demean people and to degrade employees for being honest and doing their best at their jobs. And, to make matters worse, to have supervisors act negatively and dishonestly toward employees is a horrible example for anyone, especially young adults starting out in the world.

I love reading the comics. It is a nice break at the end of the day.

Scott Adams has a right to his opinion as long as it does not cause harm or violence to anyone else. The Dilbert comic caused harm because it insinuated that it is okay to treat people however you want. It’s not just a comic.

I appreciate the Butler Eagle removing this comic from its pages. I highly recommend Calvin and Hobbes.
