Rocket swimmers shine against Farrell

Slippery Rock’s girls swimming team grabbed a District 10 Region 1 championship for the second year in a row, finishing a perfect 12-0 after beating Farrell, 134-5, Thursday night.

Maddy Gauselmann (200-yard freestyle, 100 butterfly), Natalie Double (200 IM, 100 freestyle), Gracie Olshanski (50 freestyle), Mollie Massella (500 freestyle), Tessa Szymanski (100 backstroke), and Ann-Katherine Burns (100 breaststroke) all notched solo victories.

The Rockets have 11 girls who have qualified in at least two individual events for the district meet.

Meanwhile, the Rocket boys beat Farrell, 72-3. Joey Dropp (200 freestyle), Cody Hartle (50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke), Connor Wallace (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke), and Grant Kingston (500 freestyle) swept the meet’s individual events.

They close out the season with a 2-10 mark with three boys qualified in two or more events in districts.

All three relay teams for the boys and girls are qualified to compete at districts also.

Girls Basketball

Slippery Rock was doubled up, 48-24, by rival Grove City at home in their season finale. Julia Coffaro and C.J. Sabo both bucketed seven points for the Rockets.
