CENTER TWP — No one was injured in a crash around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, on Mercer Road near Margate Drive when a woman driving a Ford Explorer south crossed the center line and struck a Ford F-350 pickup traveling north.

State trooper Martin Mihelic said the woman told him that she was scratching off lottery tickets, which caused her to drift into the northbound lane.

Barry Wilson, of Hilliards, was driving the pickup, which he was borrowing from his friend because his vehicle needed new brakes. He said he was shaken up, but not injured by the crash. He also said the truck may have been “totaled” because it was hit on its side at an odd angle.

“I have never been hit like that before,” Wilson said.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. The road was closed to traffic while state police and Unionville Volunteer Fire Company cleared the damage. Butler Ambulance Service also responded to the crash.
