Union boys prep for playoffs with win
Union road a 19-6 edge in the second quarter to a 66-51 boys basketball victory over North Clarion in Rimersburg on Monday.
Payton Johnston scored 19 points to spark the playoff-bound Golden Knights (12-10) and Dawson Camper added 15.
Union will enter the District 9 Class 1A playoffs following four straight wins.

Nina Shaw scored 12 points for the Knights and Hattie McGraw added 11 points.
Reagan Atkins tallied 21 points to pace Laurel, which won for the 20th time in 21 games.

Swimming
Slippery Rock’s girls 200 medley relay team broke the Oil City High School pool record with a time of one minute, 54.63 seconds as the Rockets remained unbeaten with a 115-53 win over the Oilers.
The previous record had stood for 28 years.
In the same meet, the Rockets’ Mollie Massella turned in a time of 59.16 in the 100-yard butterfly, topping the pool standard (previously 1:00.19) and the Slippery Rock school record (59.24).
Indoor Track
Slippery Rock competed at the SPIRE Indoor Games over the weekend. Dustin Joyce leaped 38 feet, 7 inches to place fourth in the triple jump. Eli Anderson placed fifth in the 60-meter boys hurdles with a time of 8.85 seconds.
Tyler Arblaster was fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 51.56 seconds and broke his own school 200-meter indoor record with a time of 23.30 seconds.
