Snow to return Friday in Butler County

The warm spell is over, and snow is returning to Butler County this week, according to the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh.

Butler County is expected to get some snowfall early Friday morning, around 5 a.m., which will continue until around 6 a.m. the next day, according to data from the National Weather Service.

Lead meteorologist David Shallenberger said Thursday that rain would continue through the day and transition early Friday. The low temperature will fall to around 30 degrees Friday afternoon, with highs being close to 40 in the early morning.

“There will be a little bit of snow accumulation through Friday, probably only half an inch to an inch,” he said.

Thursday’s high would reach 53 degrees, he said, with lows dropping to 32 or 33 degrees when the snow rolls in Friday morning.

Because the temperature is to drop gradually, road conditions shouldn’t be as icy as expected on Friday, Shallenberger said.

“Generally, when we look at road conditions, we’re watching for a quick drop in temperature — we’re just not getting that. Most likely the road temperature will stay the same,” he said.
