Tornado bowlers top SV, stay unbeaten

Butler’s boys bowling team remained undefeated this season with a 7-0 victory over Seneca Valley Wednesday at Family Bowlaway.

Eric DeVore led the Golden Tornado with a 672 series and a high game of 256. Zac Kniess added a 638 series and Alex Ekas rolled a 246 game with a 612 series.

Butler is 6-0 on the season. Luke Falco led the Raiders (2-4)with a 208 game and 582 series.

The Golden Tornado girls also defeated Seneca Valley, 7-0, to improve to 5-1 on the year. Natalie Coughenour rolled a 512 series and Makenzie Zimmerman had the team high game of 201.

Freeport vs. Riverview — The Yellowjackets’ varsity boys and girls teams scored 7-0 victories over Riverview.

Colin Cummings paced the Yellowjacket boys with a 267 game and 637 series. Dylan Grenata had a 166 game and Eli Abbot a 163 game.

Girls Basketball

Catherine Kelly scored 17 points, draining three treys, in helping Moniteau roll to a 51-15 victory over Union. Davina Pry scored nine points and Allie Pry netted eight.

Hailey Theurey scored eight points for Union.

Karns City 48, Clarion 16 — A slow start didn’t deter the Gremlins, who got double figures out of Brooklynn Taylor and Chloe Fritch. Karns City scored only four points in the first quarter before taking over in the next frame.

Clarion-Limestone 50, A-C Valley 21 — Mackenzie Parks scored 21 points for the Falcons (0-10, 0-6). The Falcons trailed 29-11 at halftime and play at Cranberry on Friday.

Boys Basketball

John Sabo poured in 10 points for Slippery Rock, who trailed Union (New Castle) by five at halftime, but allowed the hosts 23 points in the third. The Rockets bowed by a 62-38 final.

Hockey

Jack Smelscer and Jaxson Read scored goals, but Seneca Valley dropped a 5-2 decision to Peters Township Tuesday night. The Raiders (10-2-1) host Pine-Richland (6-7-1) Jan. 12 at the Baierl Ice Complex.
