Thoughts on the Eagle
I would like to offer some thoughts on the Butler Eagle.
First, the people of Butler are fortunate to have the Butler Eagle daily newspaper throughout Butler County. May it remain a monumental media presence for years to come.
Second, your editorial “Rebounder versus arms dealer” was right on target. Favorites in “hero worship” are often rewarded by Santa Claus on Christmas holidays. All Santa needs to do is tax the elves to produce more!
Third, I have noticed that during the approach of the Christmas holiday, you have frequently featured articles reflecting the secular celebration of Christmas. Kudos for these articles featuring such things as community parades, school concerts and businesses and volunteers preparing gifts to distribute to foster and needy children.
The secular celebration of Christmas imparts one side of the meaning of Christmas. Many churches have concerts, special pageants and other presentations welcoming the entire community to celebrate the underlying reason for Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ. I would hope there would be more articles in your monumental newspaper, with photographs, memorializing the sacred event we celebrate each year.
Fourth, I hope and pray regarding the article “Senior care workers in short supply” that it will soon be followed with an article reporting an increase of workers for senior citizen care. Love and caring for others is the essence of the sacred meaning of Christmas.
