Vehicle crashes spike during Saturday snowfall

Snowy conditions

The Butler County 911 Center dispatched emergency response crews to 17 calls for motor vehicle assistance Saturday afternoon and evening.

Several vehicle crash calls were for Interstate 79, when snow covered the roadway in the evening.

Route 8 also was a common place for vehicle troubles Saturday night.

Bill Glace, chief of the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company, was out of town Saturday, but said reports showed that three people were transported from a crash on Dinnerbell Road that happened at around 10:15 p.m. Another call for vehicle service at around 9:45 p.m. on Pittsburgh Road regarded hazards relating to icy road conditions, and crews were on scene for more than 90 minutes.
