A call for change
I am requesting a call for change with the Bradys Bend Township supervisors in their lack of work, initiative and decisions on the public docks at the Bradys Bend boat launch, Armstrong County, on the Allegheny River.
The township owns and maintains the boat docks at said location. Bradys Bend Township currently has three full time “working supervisors” as each are titled. Not a “road master,” not a “supervisor,” but a term they are using. Not my terminology — theirs.
This task of install and removal of the docks should not be sourced out as it is currently. The public boat docks should be in place much earlier than late May and left in until first signs of “shore” ice. I am seeking a date near Dec. 31.
The township, through taxpayers, has paid for very expensive equipment like a new backhoe and dump truck. They also have a large flat utility trailer at the township building that can transport the docks from the township building to the launch and vice versa. It does not cost the township or taxpayers a single cent for leaving them longer than the current removal of early October and will benefit avid fisherman, sightseers of the fall leaf transition and area hunters.
Area businesses can also benefit from the additional traffic and revenue that the resource (Allegheny River) has to offer in the fall and early winter. The public boat docks were not meant solely for summer campers and activities.
Please come out and voice your opinion at the monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month or by calling the Bradys Bend Township building at 724-526-5569.
