Nonprofit packing Thanksgiving boxes
Semper Gratus, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to support pediatric patients touched by cancers, diseases and disabilities, is starting a campaign to donate 100 Thanksgiving dinners to families in need.
According to an Oct. 20 news release, the nonprofit will have a donation-packing event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, where participants will pack 100 boxes of nonperishable food items. Familylinks will distribute the meals to families in need following the event.
StudioME will also be on-site, recording and putting together a highlight reel set to premiere on Thanksgiving. The video aims to catch the action of acts of service while including footage of commentary from children, parents and coaches about the importance of giving, teamwork and community, and why it is important to be kind.
