Scoop building momentum

A 19-2 record over the last two weeks has calmed my nerves ... if only I could have turned in such efforts earlier in the year.

I am 60-15 on the season. Reaching 100 wins may seem like a longshot, but it remains my goal. With each loss, my chances of getting to the century mark become even more slim. With that in mind, a perfect week is much-needed.

Onto the games!

Cathedral Prep at Butler — Two teams headed in opposite directions. The Ramblers have a stingy defense and it will frustrate the Golden Tornado.

Score: Cathedral Prep 39-14

North Hills at Seneca Valley — The Indians have won three straight games, but the Raiders are playing too well on both sides of the ball for me to pick against them.

Score: SV 33-10

Mars at Armstrong — The Planets have struggled against the pass recently and now are preparing to face Armstrong quarterback Cadin Olsen and the high-flying River Hawks.

Score: Armstrong 28-17

Knoch at Freeport — Two backyard rivals having very different seasons. The Yellowjackets continue to roll.

Score: Freeport 27-12

Avonworth at North Catholic — The one-loss Antelopes are a very difficult non-conference draw for the inconsistent Trojans.

Score: Avonworth 30-15

Brookville at Karns City — KC is more balanced on offense and I expect that to be the difference in a very tight game.

Score: KC 23-20

Moniteau at Punxsutawney — The Chucks are a tough bunch and last week's two-point loss at Karns City proved it for me.They'll be too much for the Warriors.

Score: Punxsutawney 28-7

Wilmington at Slippery Rock — A win and confidence are desperately needed by the Rockets. They get both Friday.

Score: Slippery Rock 24-13

Smethport at Union/A-C Valley — The Falcon Knights' current two-game skid came against league heavyweights Redbank Valley and Port Allegany. Smethport is not in their class and the Hubbers will fall.

Score: Union/A-C Valley 25-8

Summit Academy at Shenango — A pair of one-win teams, but the Knights will have trouble keeping up with the Wildcats.

Score: Shenango 34-14
