Knoch concluded its season Tuesday with a meet at Freeport. The boys finished first overall while the girls claimed second place.
Carter French won the overall boys race for the Knights. He completed an undefeated season and set course records at all of his section meets. Jackson McCool finished second for Knoch while Grady Robb was fifth, Michael Wippenbeck sixth and Tyler Galvan seventh.
On the girls side, Knoch’s Lexi Steele placed third, Anna Sophia West fifth, Alyssa Patterson eighth and Jamey Palmer ninth.
Slippery Rock 2, Grove City 2 — Hunter Berry and Nick Kingerski both scored for the Rockets (8-3-1, 4-0-1) while Connor Wallace made nine saves in this Tuesday clash.
Austin Hess and Gavin Seigfried both had an assist.
Girls Soccer
Hannah Plunkard and Ella Thimons scored goals, but Slippery Rock dropped a 3-2 decision to Harbor Creek.
The Rockets return to action at 11 a.m. Saturday, hosting Seneca in an 11 a.m. game.
Freeport 3, Apollo Ridge 1 — Peyton Los, Nora Mahan, and Arianna Coppola all netted goals in this win for the Yellowjackets. Akina Boynton, Abigail Watson, and Los had assists.
Slippery Rock senior Jacob Wolak placed second at last weekend's District 10 Class 2A golf championship, shooting a 152 (78-74) in the two-day event at The Country Club of Meadville.
The effort qualifies Wolak for the state championship tournament, scheduled Oct. 17-18 at Penn State University's Blue Course.
Union City's Josh James won the District 10 championship by carding a 150.
Knoch (6-6) was swept by Laurel in a non-section match, with the scores being 25-13, 25-16, and 25-22. Alyssa Gallagher had six kills, while Nina Szymanski had 26 digs.
